Young Guns (1988)

The Brat Pack heads west in this stylish, high-energy reimagining of the Lincoln County War. When their beloved employer is murdered, a group of young gunfighters led by the charismatic but unstable Billy the Kid (Emilio Estevez) find themselves on the wrong side of a corrupt legal system. Director Christopher Cain brings 1980s attitude to 1870s New Mexico, creating a Western that feels both contemporary and timeless. With a memorable ensemble cast that also includes Charlie Sheen, Lou Diamond Phillips, and Kiefer Sutherland, Young Guns introduced the Western genre to a new generation of movie goers.
This screening is part of our series Dead or Alive: Billy the Kid at the Movies, held in conjunction with the exhibition The Resurrection of Billy the Kid.
True West Magazine, Executive Editor, Bob Boze Bell will introduce the film and lead a post-screening discussion with the audience.
