Robert Rodriguez: Cinema Sin Fronteras – From Dusk Till Dawn

Stagecoach Movie Poster

1996 Vampire horror film.

What begins as a gritty crime thriller takes a delirious turn into vampire horror in From Dusk Till Dawn, Rodriguez’s gleefully unhinged collaboration with writer and co-star Quentin Tarantino. When two fugitive brothers (George Clooney and Tarantino) take a family hostage and flee to a remote desert bar, they find themselves trapped in a nightmarish underworld of bloodthirsty creatures. Equal parts pulp, punk, and Chicano Gothic, the film fuses Mexican borderland mythology with grindhouse bravado. Featuring unforgettable effects, a scene-stealing turn by Salma Hayek, and a genre mash-up that only Rodriguez could pull off, it became a cult classic—and a key entry in the 1990s wave of independent horror.

Chief Curator Andrew Patrick Nelson will introduce the film and lead a post-screening discussion with the audience.

This screening is part of our Hispanic Heritage Month celebration of the groundbreaking films of Robert Rodriguez.
