Join Scottsdale community historian Joan Fudala for a photo-rich presentation on the Scottsdale area’s sites and celebrities that have been featured in numerous movie, television and commercial productions.  From Raising Arizona to Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure, Hollywood has chosen to bring cast and crew to town to film popular movies.  TV shows like The Dick Van Dyke Show (with Hope Lange), an episode of FBI and a feature on 60 Minutes originated from Scottsdale.  Director Steven Spielberg learned his trade here as an Arcadia High School student. Classic actors like Don Ameche and Buster Crabbe lived here, as did Gunsmoke star Amanda Blake, Wonder Woman’s Lynda Carter and TV personality Hugh Downs. Scottsdale sports events have been broadcast around the world. Locals joined the cast of the Western TV series 26 Men when it was filmed at Cudia City on Camelback Road in the late 1950s. After production, Scottsdale movie theaters often hosted the premieres of the movies shot here. Come enjoy these bits of beloved local cinematic history.
