McLintock! Is a 1963 Western Slapstick Comedy starring John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara. The story, which is a loose adaptation of William Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew, is set in a growing Western town around the turn of the century. G.W. McLintock (John Wayn), the town’s namesake and a self-made man, is a respected but aging figure who uses his power to maintain peace among various groups, including ranchers, farmers, local Native American tribes, and corrupt government officials. The central conflict arises with the return of his fiery wife, Katherine (Maureen O’Hara), who left him two years prior due to a misunderstanding and now seeks a divorce and sole custody of their daughter, Becky, who is also returning from college. The film follows McLintock’s efforts to win Katherine back while managing a series of chaotic events.

Chief Curator Andrew Patrick Nelson will introduce the film and lead a post-screening discussion with the audience.
