Sat | Apr 18, 2026 | 2 pm

My Native America (2024), an award-winning, episodic documentary-style film created and hosted by Jim Warne, explores the diversity of contemporary Tribal Nations across the United States. The film travels to four distinct nations, highlighting unique cultures, foods, and ways of life while educating viewers on sovereignty, resilience, and the true meaning of “Indian Country”.

Executive Producer/Director Jim Warne will introduce the film and lead a post-screening discussion with the audience.

Jim Warne (Oglala Lakota) is known for both his athletic ability and advocacy. He was an NFL tackle with the Detroit Lions and an All PAC-10 tackle for Arizona State University’s 1987 Rose Bowl Championship team. After professional football he became an actor and stuntman but retired due to the frustrations of stereotypes that he could not avoid in 1990’s Hollywood. Through his work as an advocate, educator, motivational speaker, and Emmy nominated filmmaker he works to change perceptions and increase understanding of Native American culture.

Bearing Witness: Native American Voices in Hollywood (2025), a documentary produced by filmmakers Clara and Julia Kuperberg and Executive Producer Darrell Redleaf, examines how cinema has served as propaganda to distort history, glorify “Manifest Destiny,” and create harmful, stereotypical “villain” portrayals of Native Americans. Featuring Native actors and filmmakers, it highlights their personal experiences, the struggle against narrow casting, and the fight to reclaim their narrative.

Clara and Julia Kuperberg produce and direct documentaries about American film history and American culture. Darrell Redleaf (Miniconjou Lakota, Hidatsa, Mandan) was born and raised on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation in New Town, North Dakota. His family relocated to Phoenix, Arizona when Darrell was eight years old. He is a prominent celebrity hair stylist and makeup artist who has contributed to films, television, and commercials with notable clients such as Uma Thurman, Helen Hunt, and Scarlett Johansson. He has received awards for his work on Mad About You and was nominated for an Emmy for Ring of Fire.

Executive Producer Darrell Redleaf will introduce the film and lead a post-screening discussion with the audience.
