Rez Ball – A Modern Western Movie

A 2024 sports drama film based on the nonfiction sports novel Canyon Dreams: A Basketball Season on the Navajo Nation by Michael Powell. It is a story about a Native American high school basketball team from Chuska, New Mexico competing for the state championship title but losing their star player. In total, 56 of the 63 roles in the movie were played by Indigenous actors. The film’s production team made efforts to ensure the project was authentic, including casting Indigenous actors and filming on a reservation. Labron James was one of the producers to ensure authenticity.
Wade Weber, Western Spirit Education Director, will introduce the film.
