The Undiscovered Country: Triumph, Tragedy, and the Shaping of the American West by Andrew Paul Hutton

Acclaimed historian Paul Andrew Hutton visits Western Spirit to discuss his new book The Undiscovered Country, a sweeping chronicle of the American West that the Wall Street Journal hails as “The definitive history of the American West.” Hutton strips away the myths to reveal a story both inspiring and tragic—a story of ambition and invention, but also violence, exploitation, and environmental loss. Through the lives of Daniel Boone, Davy Crockett, Kit Carson, Sitting Bull, Buffalo Bill Cody, and others, he recounts the history that shaped the nation’s identity.

A book signing will follow the program. Copies of The Undiscovered Country will be available for purchase in the museum store.
