If you could create a brand-new animal, what would it look like?
All animals are perfect the way they are. Seriously, I never really thought of that. If I could mix two of my favorite animals together? It would be… dogs and bears. I love them both. A bear-dog.
What in your life are you most proud of?
I am most proud of my accomplishments with museum stores. Usually, when I’m taking over stores that were in existence, I was able to turn them around and make them more profitable. This one was a little more challenging because it was from the ground up, but here we are in our fifth year and we’re slated to be the best year ever, again. I just love working.
What song can you never resist singing along to?
You’re going to laugh at me. So, I was singing it last night, it’s the Donny and Marie song, “May Tomorrow Be a Perfect Day.” I love that song. I love Christmas songs, too, so I’ll sing along to any Christmas song, really.
What’s your favorite food combination that other people find odd?
So, I have this thing that I get a craving for once in a while, and it’s a hot dog sandwich. Instead of putting the hot dog in buns, I cut them long ways, fry ‘em up, and I put them on sliced bread. It has to have ketchup, French’s mustard, and dill pickles. That’s it. Once in a while I just get a real bad craving for that, and it’s my go-to comfort food. I don’t know where I came up with it, but I’ve been making them since I was first allowed to use the stove as a kid.
If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
Healing. I’d love to be able to give people the gift of healing.
What’s your go-to movie snack?
Just regular popcorn and soda or water. I don’t really drink sodas anymore, so usually water. It used to be Junior Mints. Oh, I would get a large box and eat the whole thing! Here’s a little fun fact, the Junior Mint was named after the Junior Miss contest.
What would your perfect vacation look like?
Oh, that’s easy. A cruise. I love cruises. I unpack my clothes and everything I brought and I hide my suitcase in the closet because I don’t want to be reminded that I’m on vacation. I love the fact that I don’t have to worry about preparing any foods, they have shows on board, they stop at different ports and you can get off and enjoy, get back on and keep going. I don’t have a favorite destination, but cruises are my favorite ways of vacationing. I highly recommend it.
What’s a hidden talent of yours?
I can levitate! Kidding, kidding. I don’t think a lot of people here in Scottsdale know that I used to do magic. I performed all over the central California coast. I got rid of most of my large illusion props and I have basically what I started off with, now. I still have my dove act, minus the doves! I guess that’s something people don’t know about me.
What’s your favorite holiday?
I have a couple favorite holidays. My first and foremost favorite holiday is Christmas. I love Christmas! It’s not because of the presents, it’s because of family and friends coming together and it just feels like the whole holiday is so magical. You get a warm, fuzzy feeling inside. My second favorite holiday is Halloween, because my birthday is late in October, and I’ve always loved the spooky genre that accompanies all the Halloween festivities.
Who’s your favorite artist? Favorite work?
I really enjoy John Coleman, because he’s so diverse. From bronze works, to painting and sketches, he is just really prolific. I admire that, because I’m a stick-figure guy. Anybody that can do something I can’t, I’m just amazed at them. I would say that he’s one of my favorite artists.
